Stories of Equestrian Style with a dash of Western Spirit

FINDING INSPIRATION FOR 2023 BY LOOKING BACK ON 2022'S NFR STYLING

Often times the best inspiration for style comes from the past. And this is especially true for how the Milton Menasco team is approaching the style lineup for the 2023 National Finals Rodeo. "We really learned last year what worked, what photographed well, and what resonated best with the community," says Alli Addison.

"We kept our looks confined to a neutral palette, with silhouettes and pieces rooted in timeless western elegance. We wanted ensembles that everyone could look back on in 50 years and be proud of, and still feel beautifully put together," she continues. Going into this current season that same mentality certainly applies. "We want our Menasco Girls this year to look classy, age appropriate, obviously on brand color wise, and true to our western values. If we can get a round of applause or a certificate of approval from one of our many western-rooted elders all while still inspiring a younger generation, then our work here is done!" she laughs.

WESTERN SET DESCENDING - Milton Menasco sets their sights on the Bright Light City

Prepare yourselves, because Cowtown is desert bound. For as long as we all can recall, Western Culture has descended upon the glittering streets of Las Vegas, Nevada to ring in the pinnacle of western sport, the National Finals Rodeo. And the team at Milton Menasco is more ready than ever.

“Our elevated cowgirl chic will take on the bright city lights of Las Vegas once again,”says owner Alli Addison, “with a juxtaposition of fine western tailoring mixed with lux vintage pieces and feminine detailing.”

Having made a splash at the 2022 National Finals Rodeo, this year’s shindig goal has become all about upstaging, well, themselves. “I’m not sure where to begin, but what we do this year absolutely must kick our ass from 2022. In my head, what we’ve conceptualized is epic. Will it turn out as glorious as I am imagining when push comes to shove? I haven’t a clue,” she continues.

But she goes on to divulge a few in-the-know tidbits. “Make sure to check in and read your Sunday Paper as we lay out our own NFR plans, talk rodeo fashion forecasting, throw in some styled sneak peeks, give hints as to who we are working with and so much more.”

Check back as we dive into Volume 01 of The Menasco Edit Sunday Paper just a little deeper, with all it has to offer. Up next, an early investigation into how Ralph Lauren's recent SS24 presentation at New York Fashion Week may very well shape the fashion at this year's National Finals Rodeo. Because nothing says Americana Glam like Ralph Lauren and Rodeo.

Happy Sunday reading.

HORSE & STYLE MAGAZINE | Behind The Brand | Written by Laurie Berglie

Horse & Style Magazine has always held a special place in our hearts, it's the equestrian-centric publication where founder Alli Addison initially got her start in the horse media world having produced a series of stories and content for the H&S Team. For their latest rebranded issue under a new and expanded team, we were approached by our dear friend and author Laurie Berglie about doing a Behind the Brand feature, and naturally, immediately said "yes!"

"The name's Alli, but you can call her Milton. Seriously, she doesn't mind. Fashionable, horse-obsessed, California-native Alli Addison has been behind @miltonmenasco, the wildly popular Instagram account, for almost a decade. What started as a way to visually compile the works of art created by her late great uncle Milton Menasco has now blossomed into a luxury lifestyle brand that's been embraced by both horse lovers and non-horse people alike. A sprinkle of english equestrian, a dash of western cowpoke, and a whole lot of horse girl energy were poured into the making of the Milton Menasco brand, and we have a feeling that with Alli at the helm, absolutely anything is possible."

Read the entire Q&A here (starting on page 34) as Laurie Berglie of Horse & Style Magazine dives into the humble beginnings of our little brand and what the future holds. Big surprise, it's filled with more collaborations and lots of horses.
